Spectrum kicked off the 2014-2015 competitive season on Sunday when our Junior Olympic level 3-6 teams competed at the Harvest Classic, hosted by Gymnastics at Brentwood Commons. This meet saw a lot of "firsts": first meet of the season for everyone, first meet at a new level for most, and first meet ever for some! We are very proud of all of our gymnasts, who showed positive attitudes and excellent sportsmanship throughout their meet. While levels 3-5 are "compulsory" levels where every gymnast is required to perform the same routine for that level, level 6 is an "optional" level, where gymnasts can perform their own unique routines, as long as they fulfill the requirements outlined for that level. So, for our level 6 team, this was their first time competing as "optional" gymnasts. The meet was a "feedback" meet, meaning that in addition to giving a score, judges also give feedback on the routines, and coaches are allowed to approach the judges and discuss the routines. This helps prepare coaches and gymnast for the rest of the season, and iron out any major errors. Spectrum had a lot of high placements and event champions! What a great way to kick off our season!
