The past few weeks have been exciting and we have had a lot of great things going on in and out of the gym! From new equipment to competitions to fun events, our students of all ages and abilities have been having a great time at SGA. For starters, we got 1500 brand new pit blocks! We got rid of a lot of old pit blocks and replaced them with new blocks in Spectrum red. We want to thank all the parents who loaded up their cars to take the old ones to the dump for us! Your help is much appreciated!
Second, we got these brand new, state-of-the-art Janssen-Fritsen uneven bars! Elyse, Emily, and I tested these bad boys out back in August when we attended National Congress and we thought they would be a perfect addition to the gym. Unlike most uneven bar sets, these bars do not require the use of cables (just the power of physics), and they are easy to set up and move (yes, move!). They have wheels! Their simplistic design also makes setting them easy and "short people friendly". I don't have to climb on top of the extenders or on a mat to raise the high bar like most uneven bar sets. I can raise and lower the high bar from standing on the floor, which is fantastic! The best part? There are only a handful of these bar sets in the COUNTRY and yes, SGA has one of them!
Our compulsory (JO team levels 3-5) gymnasts competed in their very first competition at the beginning of November at the Harvest Classic hosted by Gymnastics at Brentwood Commons. Nearly all of our gymnasts are competing a brand new level for the very first time and what a fantastic job they did! We had several sectional qualifiers and several gymnasts who made it onto the podium in their age divisions. They also debuted Spectrum's "new look": brand new competition leotards and warm ups. We are still very early in the competitive season and there's still a lot of work to be done! Our next meet will be hosted December 14-15 at Granite State Gymnastics in Bow, and this will be the first meet for our optional gymnasts (levels 6+) and our Xcel team (bronze-platinum).
Our students of all ages have enjoyed our Parent Night Out events in the past month! They have all SOLD OUT so I guess that means they are a big hit with the parents too! Our next Parent Night Out will be December 14th, so sign up before it fills up!
Peace, love, and gymnastics,
