SGA's optional team
Our competitive season finally began this weekend at a local qualifier hosted by Granite State Gymnastics in Bow. Though we were missing a few gymnast, overall, I think everyone did great for the first meet. Just about everyone on team this year is competing a completely different level than they were last year, and for many, the jump from level 5 to 6, 6 to 7, or 7 to 8 is a difficult adjustment. For our level 4's, this was their first meet ever, and I was so proud of the way they performed. I can remember my first meet and it certainly was not pretty!
All of the clubs that SGA competed against this weekend and will continue to compete against throughout the season have been competing since October or November, some as early as September. Many of these other gyms have as many as 4 or 5 meets under their belt now, where we have one. Competing against more seasoned competitors is not an easy task, but I believe that SGA held their own and will continue to improve as the season progresses. Just about everyone qualified to sectionals! We had 11 of our gymnasts score at least one score of 9.0 or better, and 3 of our gymnasts scored an All-Around score of 35.0 or better. SGA's next competition will be the weekend of January 5/6, hosted by Gymnastics Village in Amherst.
This weekend we also had another highly successful Parent Night Out. It was our third sold out Parent Night Out in a row! PNO's are a fun and inexpensive way to drop your child(ren) off at the gym for a few hours where they can enjoy our inflatables, our rock wall, games, and activities. Our next PNO event will be on January 19th!
SGA gymnast Alli competing for LHS
The high school gymnastics season is in full swing! Did you know that Londonderry High School has a gymnastics team? Furthermore, did you know that the LHS team features several SGA gymnasts, and is coached by SGA owner Sean Delisle and coach Emily Panacopoulos? If you find yourself free on January 3rd at 7:00 PM, head over to LHS and support the Lancer gymnastics team at their home meet!
Spectrum will be CLOSED for the Holidays from December 24th-January 1st.
We will reopen on January 2nd. We offer one of the most flexible make-up policies in the business that includes unlimited make-ups. Be sure to call and schedule a make-up class! You can also make up during our school-aged open gym on Fridays from 7:30-9:00pm.
On a heavier note, we at Spectrum are deeply saddened by last Friday's tragedy in Connecticut. As a business who caters primarily to children, we cannot fathom what the families of the victims or the people of Newtown are feeling right now. Seven of the children killed in the shooting were young, budding gymnasts who took gymnastics classes at Vasi's International Gymnastics, located in Newtown, CT. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
Peace, love, and gymnastics,
