As another school year comes to an end, we want to extend our love to two very special young ladies who have just graduated high school, and will be moving on to the next chapters in their lives. Becca Farren and Katelynn Flight are two members of our Spectrum family that have certainly left their mark on our program and on our hearts! Please join us in congratulating them for their achievements and wish them good luck in their future endeavors!
Becca is a member of our level 8 team and made her last year as a JO gymnast well worth it. She was able to learn at least one new skill on all four events at the age of 17. Becca has demonstrated amazing work ethic, perseverance through injury, receptiveness to coaching, and a positive attitude, making her an incredible role model to her teammates and an invaluable asset to our team. On the competition floor, Becca represented our gym with grace and poise, no matter the outcome, and was always there to comfort, motivate, and encourage her younger teammates. Becca graduated from Manchester Central High School (where she was also a member of the gymnastics team), and she will be heading to the University of Rhode Island in the fall, where she will be continuing her gymnastics for URI's club team.
Katelynn Flight (or "Miss Katelynn" as she is affectionately called by her students) was a member of Spectrum's competitive team for many years before a chronic back condition forced her into early retirement. Not ready to be done with gymnastics, Katelynn began coaching, and is now a USA Gymnastics Professional Member. Katelynn is a school-age and preschool rec coach, Xcel bronze and silver team coach, and summer camp counselor. Katelynn also served as team manager for the Pinkerton Academy gymnastics team, and at the age of 17, earned her compulsory judging rating. She is certified to judge levels 3-5 and Xcel bronze-gold. Katelynn is well-loved by her students for her warm smile and kind, friendly disposition. Katelynn graduated from Pinkerton Academy, and will be heading to the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
Though we will miss these two so much, we are so proud of all their accomplishments, and proud of the smart, kind, compassionate, well-rounded young women they have become. We are lucky to have been a part of their journey, and they will always have a home here at Spectrum. We love you Becca and Katelynn!
Peace, love, and gymnastics,
